«Opticheskii Zhurnal» is a monthly scientific and technical journal. It has been published since 1931.

The transliterated name of the journal is «Opticheskii Zhurnal».

A full-text English translation of the journal (since 1966) is published by Optica Publishing Group  under the title "Journal of Optical Technology"; it is included in international abstract data bases and reference systems Scopus and Web of Science.

Since 01.12.2015 the journal is approved by the Supreme Attestation Commission for publication of the general scientific results of theses for doctoral degrees as being included in international abstract data bases and reference systems (Scopus, Web of Science), latest update 30 December 2022.

“Opticheskii Zhurnal” is included in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications that should publish the main scientific results of the theses for PhD and doctoral degrees (as of 29.03.2023).

On 06.12.2022 the Supreme Attestation Commission introduced the system of categorization of the journals (K1, K2, K3). Based on the recommendations of the Supreme Attestation Commission, “Opticheskii Zhurnal” has the category K1 as included in the international bibliographic and abstract data bases Scopus, Web of Science and in the list of RSCI journals.

The journal is included in the catalogue of periodicals Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory.

All the journal’s materials are placed on the platform of the Scientific electronic library elibrary.ru.

The editorial team accepts the articles for publication in accordance to the stated Editorial policy.

The authors are not charged for publication and peer review of the articles.

Peer reviewing of the articles of “Opticheskii Zhurnal” is not paid.
