It is advisable to use word processor Word for Windows (from 2003 version).

The name of the article is printed in Times New Roman bold, 14 pt, one-and-a-half spacing.

An abstract (200-300 words) is printed in Times New Roman normal font, 14 pt, one-and-a-half spacing, full justification.

The name of the section is printed in Times New Roman 14 pt, upright, upper case, bold font, one-and-a-half spacing; blank line after it is not needed.

The name of the subsection is printed in Times New Roman 14 pt, upright, lower case, bold font, one-and-a-half spacing; blank line after it is not needed.

The name of the section in subsection is printed in Times New Roman 14 pt, italics, lower case, bold font, one-and-a-half spacing; blank line after it is not needed.

It is recommended to escape using subsections and sections in subsections.

MAIN TEXT

The main text is printed in Times New Roman normal font, 14 pt, one-and-a-half spacing, left margin is 30 mm, top and foot margins are 20 mm, right margin is 10 mm. The paragraph break is 10 mm.

It is necessary to observe the unified principle of the use of letter symbols with their obligatory explanation on first mention in the text or formula. It is not allowed to use the same symbols or letters for designation of different physical and/or mathematical values.

Text requirements:

- It is advisable to use only Latin and Greek alphabet for indices of variables and invariables in text and formulas.

- It is advisable to print shortcuts of the Latin words always used in upper script and subscript in upright font without the full stop.

- All Greek letters should be printed in upright font.

- Abbreviations comprising of the upper-case Russian or Latin letters should be printed in upright font.

- Vector values should be printed in upright bold type without the upper arrows.

- Mathematical symbols, such as rot, div, lg, lim, exp, sin, etc., should be printed in upright font.

- It is advisable to print chemical elements’ symbols and chemical formulas in upright font.

- In all other cases it is advisable to print Latin letters in italics.

Shortcuts

In the main text only generally used shortcuts are allowed: et al., i.e., and the like.

The abbreviations applied by the author should be explained in the main text on first mention.

ATTENTION! It is not allowed to use shortcuts, abbreviations and formulas in the Abstract.

It is not allowed to use mathematical symbols instead of the words in the text: it is advisable to print “is equal to” instead of “=”; “about” instead of “~”; “less than” instead of “<”; “more than” instead of “>”; “not less than” instead of “≥”; “not more than” instead of “≤”.

The term “in the order of” should be used with care, only in case it is about the order of decadic value (“in the order of 108” is correct, “in the order of 1,4” is incorrect).

FORMULAS

The formulas should not have more than 2 “storeys”. It is advisable to use, for example, exp(−х) instead of eх, and also to use slant line for printing fractions; when needed numerator and denominator or the whole fraction can be separated from the rest components of the formula with brackets.

Multiplication mark should not be used in the formulas. It is advisable to use “×” symbol only for indication of vector product, in combinations of numbers like 5×104, for designation of enlargement range (2×), when designation of the size (2×2), and also in case of partition of the formula for transferring from line to line.

“·” symbol should be used only for designation of scalar product of vectors, and also in chemical formulas (CuSO4·5H2O).

Symbols of physical units should not be inserted into the formulas! Compound units should be printed without the multiplication sign.

The consecutive numbering is used for the main formulas. A formula and its number are printed on a separate line. Formulas and expressions typed with special formula editors should also be printed on a separate line. The formulas and symbols in text, i.e. inside the paragraph, should be typed in text mode. When typing the formula, it is advisable to escape simultaneous use of formula and text modes.

The following formular editors are allowed: Microsoft Equation and Mathtype without the change of default settings (it is not advisable to change font and size, make spaces).

TABLES

Tables should be made in Word or Excel, they should be named and numbered.

Tables should not be inserted into the text; it is advisable to place them after the figures’ captions.

The table header should not contain empty spaces.

The information material in the table should have references to the corresponding literature.

The general comments to the table are placed under the table after the word “Notice”.

GRAPHICS REQUIREMENTS

The figures are presented as separate files in two variants – with nomenclatures (numeric or verbal) and without them (“blind” figures).

It is not advisable to modify the figures; they should be made in the following extensions:

- photos and halftone illustrations should be presented in the formats *.tif, *.png, *.jpg, *.bmp with max resolution (not less than 300 pixels/inch);

- vector drawings, graphs, diagrams, schemes should be made in vector programs, for instance Visio 4, 5,2002_2003 (*.vsd),  Excel, Adobe Illustrator.

AutoCAD, Compass, Coreldraw (*.cdr), MATLAB must be exported to formats  *.ai, *.wmf, *.pdf.

It is prohibited to use DOC and DOCX extensions for the figures.

The figure’s space should be used to the maximum by means of scaling along the axes and rational distribution of illustrations.

The scale bars on coordinate axes should be indicated inside the graph. In case of linear scale, the number of bars should be not more than 5-7; the bars should be numbered the next but one.

The figures should not contain any inscriptions; it is advisable to use only numeric or verbal nomenclatures, the explanation of which is given in the figure’s caption.

In case in some range of the argument values the graphs visually overlap, it is necessary to exclude this range or depict it separately in the scale appropriate for curves resolution.

The curves in the captions should be numbered; the use of such symbols as circle, triangle, square, asterisk is not allowed.

The figures’ captions are placed after the References.

It is advisable to make colored figures for the electronic version of the journal placed in the Internet.

In printed version only those figures stay colored, in which the color contains main information or is the key for understanding the meaning of the figure; the rest figures are printed in half tone black and white.

The use of tables and figures for one and the same research results is not allowed. The figures are numbered in the order they are mentioned in the text.

REFERENCES

The list of References should be made up in accordance to Reference layout.

The list of references is placed after the Conclusion with the subtitle “REFERENCES”; the list should be numbered without brackets.

The sources are numbered in the order they appear in the text. All sources from the list of references should be mentioned in the text of the article.

The number of the source is indicated in the text by means of a numeric in square brackets (for example, [1], [3-5, 7]). The range of the references is indicated by means of dash.

The bibliographic references are laid out as per GOST 7.0.5-2008 standard.

The examples of the references are given on the page References.

It is possible to download the samples of the references Reference layout.

If a printed issue has a digital object identifier DOI, it should be mentioned at the end of the reference according to the following sample:

http://doi.org/10.17586/1023-5086-2023-90-01-03-11

If a monograph or an article has both printed and electronic versions, the reference is made only to its printed version.

It is recommended to make References to the laws, decrees, orders, standards, regulatory documents in the form of in-text references (footnotes).

The names of the literature sources are given in the original.

When referred to “Opticheskii Zhurnal”, it is necessary to make double reference to Russian language version (“Opticheskii Zhurnal”) and English language version (“Journal of Optical Technology”). See References to the journal.
